Federal Job SkillsThe Federal government is hiring, and there has never been a better time to enjoy the advantages that come with life as a Federal employee. Even as private sector businesses are struggling with high levels of debt and laying off workers the Federal government is looking for new workers to compliment its already large workforce. From TSA screeners at the airport to census workers going door to door there have never been more opportunities for Federal employment. Those who wish to join the ranks of this growing Federal workforce will find jobs in a number of different specialties and many different pay grades The breadth of fobs avail able means that workers of all  skill  levels are likely to find at least a few job postings for which they are qualified.

But simply being qualified for a Federal job does not mean an automatic hiring decision, or even guarantee an interview. As more workers are laid off by their private sector employers many of those  displaced workers are looking to the Federal government for a more secure position and a steady paycheck.. That means plenty of competition for the jobs available, and it is important for applicants to put their best foot forward when applying for any Federal job.

It is also important for applicants to ensure that they truly possess the skills and qualifications that are required before applying for any Federal government job. Each job posting will provide a full list of qualifications and responsibilities for the position. These qualifications may include a college degree, a specific license or a specified certification. When these qualifications are listed that means that only those  who possess the required skills will be considered. Any applicant who does not possess the degree, license or certification specified in the job posting will be screened out during the initial phase of the hiring process. It is a far better use of the applicant’s time and energy to only apply for those positions for which they are fully qualified.
